We’ve got ONE MORE TREAT in store for your Hallow’s Eve pleasures, and we’re very excited to keep this Autumnal train rolling and wrap up our UK Collab series with “Parkin in Leeds”, our newest Blended Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout blended with our buds @northernmonkbrewing out of Leeds (AND CO-RELEASED IN THE UK AND THE US!!!!). This beauty is comprised of Imperial Turbinado Sugar Stout rested 34mo in 7-year Pot Brandy Barrels blended with fresh Imeperial Stout and conditioned on a trunkload of fresh-baked Molasses Cookies, Gingersnap Cookies, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cinnamon (3 different kinds!), Vanilla, Brown Sugar, and MORE COOKIES!

When the Northern Monk crew sent us an invite to their Dark & Wild Beer and Music Festival, our first response was “Hey, sorry, did you mean to send this invite to us?” and then a follow-up “OH, FUCK YEAH! WE’RE DOWN!” If you;ve been following along, you knew we had to end this whole series on a big, tasty, sweet DARK NOTE. On a serious note, we are incredibly honored and excited to kick off an incredibly exciting stream of kickass UK collabs with the NMB folks.

We wanted to have some fun with this big undertaking, and honestly both of the NMB locale-based ideas were thanks to our Cellar Manager Jorge Mederos, so if you see him give him some props. For the second NMB collab and the cherry on the collab-o-rama, we wanted to recreate a timeless local dessert from their side of the pond: The Parkin, a dense Spiced Cake known for it’s use of Treacle, Oatmeal, and Ginger. Typically compared to Gingerbread Cake in the US,  it is often served with Custard. So we shot a few ideas back and forth on how to recreate this beast, and once again, the team fuckin’ crushed it. (Also, we heard parking in Leeds actually sucks real bad, so this is also a nod to that, haha.)

This is exactly what it is described to be: A liquid version of a sticky, ooey-gooey Parkin, but drizzled in Brandy instead of Custard, and absolutely pebbled with Ginger and Cinnamon, with JUUUUUUST enough Nutmeg to bring it all together. Big BAKED GOOD vibes, layered in wet Oaky vanillin and robust Brandy. 

We cannot wait to present this in honor of our Leeds hosts, we love this idea and project as a whole, and we’re so so so stoked to share it with y’all!
