“DUH! SNAKE BLOOD 3!” is finally here! If you can believe it, we laid this beer down in barrels 3 years ago! WHOA!
Brewed in collaboration with some of our favoritest humans @wovenwaterbrewing, we honestly brewed the original beer specifically for barrel-aging, and now the time has come for us to release the beast!
We started off with a base of Maris Otter, layered on a bevy of specialty and roasted malts, ran a continuous boil for over 6 hours, and hit it with some extra sugar in the kettle to get the base of this thiccccc Imperial Stout where we wanted it.
We fermented it low and slow, cold-conditioned it for many moons, and then threw it into Cherry Apple Brandy barrels for 36 long months. After the long slumber, we pulled the beer from the barrels, dosed in @frenchbroadchocolate cacao nibs and husks, Madagascar Vanilla Beans, and a very heavy-handed helping of Raspberries, and blended in some fresh-brewed Imperial Stout for that extra-fresh-milk-chocolate character! (And to blend it out to 13% ABV, cuz Friday the 13th and all that.)
This Blended Barrel Aged Stout sat on the mountain of adjuncts for a long while prior to packaging, and the result is pretty spectacular. Huge, thick, sticky Chocolate-covered Raspberries up front, boozy-rich Cherry cordial all up in your nose holes, Raspberry truffles falling from the sky, and this is pretty much just a mug full of Chocolate Ganache and Raspberry jam poured over rich-AF fluffy Chocolate Cake on the finish with a very heavy floater of Cherry Apple Brandy and a beautiful kiss of Oaky tannins. Total yum. Come on, taste the Snake. It won’t bite.
WARNING: We used copious amounts of fruit and don’t recommend cellaring the cans. Keep it cold and drink it fresh, y’all!
