“WARPED” was the first beer we dropped after reopening from Hurricane Helene, and it sold out in record time, so we HAD TO BRING IT BACK! As always, brewed in collaboration with our sweetheart buds @parallelbrewing. If you happen to be out in Boone, or in need of some Hop Kief products (now known as Liquid Lupulin, ya heard?!), you should hit up this mad crew!
As the original story goes, before Hurricane Helene, we had planned a big “Warped Tour”-themed party for our 1-Year Anniversary of our Durham taproom and had this beer sitting and ready for packaging. Sadly, life had other plans and Hurricane Helene (that bitch, amiright?) came barrelling in, but we made some calculated moves during the shutdown and the beer was not lost!
Mashed with a base of 100% @riverbendmalt, comprised of Chesapeake Pilsner and a dash of Chit Malt to keep it super simple and let the hops shine. We then hit it very hard in the Kettle and Whirlpool with a heavy dose of Ella and @eggersfarms Motueka, then fermented it low and slow with our House Ale yeast before spunding for maximum natural carbonation. We then dry-hopped it once, but very aggressively with Nelson Sauvin, Columbus Cryo, and a very fat dose of Waimea Hop Kief. As always, we tweaked it a bit from the first batch to really amplify the hop character we were hunting down, and boy, oh boy, are we happy with the results!
We experience tidal waves of dank and grassy fruit salad, some Passionfruit and Lime juice poured atop a bowl of fresh Grapes, somebody ripping live-rosin in a very small room, fresh-cut Pineapple wedges dipped in Orange Julius, and enough pine-resin-dankness to keep that palate dry and fully-quenched at the same time. We’re so damn jazzed on this one, y’all, for real.
In light of our first Hurricane re-release, PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO VISIT AVL! We’re all still fighting for our lives to recover from the impact of the Hurricane, and tourism is the lifeblood of our little Mountain Town (whether some people like it or not). So please, crack this beer and boast to the high heavens about how rad it is to visit AVL. Every little bit helps, y’all, and our community is very much still struggling to come back.
