In collaboration with the great NJ hop demons of @troonbrewing, we are PROUD to present “The Hustle is Dank”, a Triple Dry Hopped West Coast IPA!
We’ve been buds with the NJ Hop Royalty that is Troon for some time and realized it’d been way too long since we’d made a beer together. Recently, they dropped a collab up North, and after talking, we thought it would be fun to see what a hybrid approach of OUR hopping techniques and THEIR hopping intensity in a West Coast IPA. Plus, we had to hit up @jade.o.lantern for a long overdue return to the label art.
This behemoth of Hops started with a base of @riverbendmalt Chesapeake Pilsner, along with a very hefty dose of Riverbend Chit. We then pummeled the Boil with Superdelic, and slathered the Whirlpool with a VERY heavy dose of Columbus and Cascade and hot-dipped the Fermenter with Centennial Incognito. Fermented with our American IPA yeast and spunded for 100% natural carbonation. It was then dry-hopped first with more Superdelic and Columbus, along with Mosaic Cryo, then dry-hopped a second time with Mosaic Hop Kief. That wasn’t enough, so we dry-hopped it a THIRD time with a very hefty dose of Galaxy Terpenes in the Brite Tank.
Reminiscent of a few of the best parts of New School IPA and Classic West Coast IPA (*AHEM* AMERICAN IPA *AHEM*). Super dank/grassy/resinous tones intermingle with a blast of Grapefruit and Blood Orange on the nose. Spruce meets Pine meets Citrus follows through on the first few sips, and then opens up into Raspberry-Blueberry gummies, Grape Hi Chew candies, Key Lime sorbet, and some absolutely STINKY nugs. A firm bitterness rides throughout, with the fruity-citrus-resin character just riding equally high into a bone-dry finish. This is some serious damn dankness for sure. And yes, it does have some extra haze from the absurdly high dry-hopping rates, but that should slowly drop brite over the next few weeks. Sorry, not sorry. Troon made us do it. *Wink*
