“Freaky Teeth” is a Blend of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine conditioned on copious amounts of Cacao Nibs and Vanilla Beans, made in collaboration with the Southern Grist crew. After 26 months in a mix of 10yr and 18yr Elijah Craig barrels (and a Rye Barrel), we decided to blend these onto a melange of adjuncts in true Southern Grist fashion. And we hope ya dig it!
You know the deal for the base (“Ancient Teeth”). Heavy Southern GristMalt bill, boiled for a long time, fermented with our Pub Ale yeast, and aged 26mo in a blend of 10yr and 18yr Bourbon and Rye barrels. We then conditioned it on a very large volume of Cacao Nibs and Vanilla Beans for extra OOOOOOMPH.
.We experience a bright and overwhelming Bourbon character, deep dark notes of Molasses and Vanilla Cake slathered in Hot Fudge, a wave of Oak-Vanilla tannins, probably a few Fig Newtons and specifically Cherry Tootsie Pops, and a boozy-fruity finish with just a hint of Rye spice. Friggin’ get it.
