Five Years of Fury
Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Honey Stout – 15% ABV
1 Bottle – 1 PINT 9 FL OZ
Every year, we taste through our selection of Barrels and select the best one to display for our “Anniversary” beer. And thus, we humbly present to you: “Five Years of Fury”, brought to you in collaboration with the master of adjuncted-barrel-aged-beers himself: @horusagedales.
We started with a big ol’ Stout base comprised of Riverbend Malt and Proximity Malt, along with some other specialty and roasted malts. We then boiled this beast for MANY hours, and cast it out into the Whirlpool with some Hawaiian Lehua Honey, and then fermented it with a blend of English yeasts. We then transferred this beer into TWENTY-NINE YEAR OLD Henry McKenna Bourbon Barrels and let it rest for 28 months. We tried to go 29 months for 29 Year Old barrels, but hey, the beer was tasting incredible and we got close enough. Fuck it. Kyle said it was cool, I swear. This beer is from a single barrel with no adjuncts whatsoever, as is our Anniversary tradition!
Notes of “Holy fuckin shit”, thiccc and creamy brownies, straight Bourbon without the heat, Dark Chocolate chunks dipped in super fruity Honey, a bit of Marshmallow-y fruity goodness, and “smooth AF” with a perfect kiss of Oaky tannins. Seriously, this is easily one of our best Barrel-aged Stouts of all time.
Fun fact: Initially, we released “Split Tongue Talker”, the non-barrel-aged base Stout that went into these barrels, but dosed it with a VERY heavy-handed smattering (or a Horus-sized dose) of Toasted Peanuts, Sea Salt, and White Chocolate.
