Last year, Weathered Souls Brewing put together the “Black is Beautiful” project with the intention of uniting breweries across the world to raise and donate money to support BIPOC and any marginalized groups in their local areas. With the help of Riverbend Malt and Craftpeak, we were able to raise over $5k for Green Opportunities and make a direct impact on our local community.
When we released that beer, we also threw some of it into Old Fitzgerald Bourbon barrels, where it rested for 16 long months. We then racked it onto heaps of Madagascar Vanilla Beans and freshly roasted cocoa nibs and husks from French Broad Chocolate before bottling and kegging it all up.
The result is a true symphony of Barrel-aged beauty, with notes of Bourbon-soaked French Vanilla ice cream, drenched in thicccccc hot fudge, kissed with sticky oak tannins, and wrapped up in a dangerously drinkable 11.5% ABV package. Proceeds from the sale of this beer will go to Different Wrld, a local BIPOC-owned business centered on providing space and tools for amplifying marginalized voices within the arts community.
