It’s BAAAaaaAAACK! Everyone’s favorite dank and fruity extra-spooky DDH IPA…BUT WAIT! WHAT’S THIS?! IT CAME BACK AS A TDH DIPA, TURNED ALLLLLLL THE WAY UP?!?!, “EXTRA Reapers and Creepers” is here for all your holiday flavor reaping and creeping needs! As it goes with our year-end rose-colored glasses, we wanted to look back on a tried-and-true favorite and apply some of the new Hoppy-Ale procedures we’ve adopted.
This lil’ ditty is TDH Hazy DIPA, packed to the gills with more Hops than you can shake your tailbone at. Mashed with a blend of @Riverbend Cumberland Pils and Czech Pils for the most pale base we could muster, then fluffed up to the heavens with Riverbend Oat Malt and Flaked Oats. We hit it in the Whirlpool with some extra choice Egger’s Motueka AND Columbus Cryo, on top of a Hot Dip in the FV with Citra Dynaboost. Fermented with a new-to-us Hazy IPA yeast, dry-hopped with a whole mess of even more Egger’s Motueka and Citra, spunded for 100% natural carbonation, and then double-dry-hopped with a murderous and violent amount of Egger’s Mike’s Magic Mix and Enigma, and THEN triple-dry-hopped with a very heavy dose of Nelson Sauvin Amplifire Oil in the Brite for that tropical-citrus good-good dank-dank top note.
As always, we made a few small changes on the total hop combo, but kept the core blend very close to the same (Nelson, Columbus, Motueka), just amped WAY, WAY up. Same target for hop expression, but once again amplified way up in body, aroma, mouthfeeel, and hop saturation. In case anyone cares, this is a favorite of ours to bring back BECAUSE of the complexity, and the changes we make to this always just push the brand forward while staying the same. Super duper fun from a production standpoint, and it’s always one of our more “dank” Juicy IPA offerings while still being a total juicebomb. Plus that reaper graphic is sick AF. =[/
A super silky body followed up with notes of fresh cantaloupe, melon rind, biting into a juicy pink starburst, and a whole mess of sticky-icky. Hell yeah, this baby rips!
