“Is This a Cold IPA?” is an India Pale Lager comprised of the second-runnings of the mash. We adjusted the water pretty hard at this point for dat crispy minerality, hopped it VERY aggressively with Wakatu in the boil for a more assertive bitterness, then threw some Mandarina Bavaria in the Whirlpool. We fermented this low and slow with our House Lager yeast and spunded it for natural carb before a large dry-hop of Motueka and Cashmere.
Notes of resinous and coniferous fruit salad, a medley of juicy and pithy citrus, a superb minerality and dryness, something like what would happen if our West Coast IPA and our Lager had a baby, and just a whiff of hype marketing terminology utilized to recategorize a perfectly fine style.
